Toyota Etios Liva Review and Specifications

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Toyota Etios Liva is an upcoming car and first hatchback of Toyota India. It was unveiled in 2010 at Auto Expo India. It will go for sale by the last week of March 2011 in India. The company is also planning to launch it in Russia, South America and other popular markets as well. Honda India is planning to launch its small car Honda Brio in 2011. So these two models will fight each other. It will also give strong competition for Hyundai i10, Maruti Swift, Chevy Beat and upcoming Maruti Cervo.

Well speaking on its inside features, it is a five seater with wide dashing board. It looks astounding with twin tone color. It has several common interior features like Steering mounted audio controls, Rear wiper/washer, AC, power windows, power steering with adjustment; remote central locking and Dash integrated music system. It will give sufficient space for all passengers. Head and leg room is good. It disappoints you when it comes to luggage part where you need to compromise on it. It gives only little amount of space to carry your luggage. Other than this everything is extraordinary.

The forthcoming hatchback is expected to equip with a powerful 1.2 petrol engine with 4 valves. It will be able to generate maximum power of 80bhp and torque is yet to be declared. The weight of the car (890 kg) helps to drive easily. The company has not released any statements on engine part.

When it comes to safety features, it is expected to equip with some advance safety features like Climate Control, Remote Boot, Remote Central Locking, Power Windows, Remote Fuel Filler, Rear Wiper, Rear Armrest, ABS, ESP, and three Rear Seat Belts.

The company is popular for its unique exterior style. In the front side 'U' shaped grill with company's insignia looks sweet. Unique shape of head lamps along with common type of fog lamps adds beauty for its front fascia. It has an overall length of 3775mm, 1695mm of width, 1490mm of height and 173mm of ground clearance. The beefy shoulder line on its body looks awesome. From rear side it looks sporty with rear washer. Compare to upcoming hatchback Honda Brio and Maruti Cervo it looks little cloudy. Overall it seems good.

Its price will start from 4.5 lakh and goes up to 6 lakh. Its mileage will be close to 15 km per liter. The Company is planning to launch it in 3 versions but only petrol version.

Toyota FT-86 2011

Fans of the long-gone Supra, MR2 and even the Celica may rejoice; as we tipped you off a few hours ago, Toyota has just released the first official photos of the FT-86, a near-production concept model of its Subaru co-developed rear-wheel drive coupe that will make its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. The production version of the 2+2 seater sports coupe, whose conceptual name harks back to the popular RWD Corolla AE86 of the mid-1980s, is due to go on sale towards the end of 2011.

"The FT-86 Concept is neither an electric vehicle nor a hybrid vehicle, but is a sports model with a gasoline engine developed to convey the essential appeal of automobiles in a new era. It is a must-see concept car that expresses TMC's desire to once again create a Toyota sports car," the Japanese automaker said in a release published on its official site.
The compact-sized coupe is powered by a front-mounted, 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine sourced from Subaru that drives the rear wheels. Official details are still scarce, but our sources tell us that Toyota opted to equip the concept model with a naturally-aspirated version of Subaru's 2.0-liter flat flour that produces 150HP in the Impreza.
However, it is most likely that the Japanese automaker has tweaked the engine to crank out a few more ponies boosting output closer to 200 horsepower.
It's worth noting that in Japan, Subaru also offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer with 250HP that powers the Impreza S-GT that we all know as the WRX in most markets.
It's still too early to know which powertrains will be available on the production version of the FT-86, but Subaru's 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engines (depending on the market) in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms would have to be the most serious candidates.
The coupe is quite compact in dimensions measuring 4,160mm (163.7-in.) in length, 1,760mm (69.3-in.) in width, and 1,260mm (49.6-in.) in height with a wheelbase of 2,570mm (101.2-in.).

The FT-86 Concept was penned at Toyota's European Design Development ED2 studio that's located in Nice, France. The exterior design, which obviously won't change much when it reaches production in 2011, is clearly inspired by Toyota's FT-HS hybrid concept that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in 2007. And yes, we must admit that our first take is very positive.
Needless to say that the FT-86's interior styling is far too conceptual for production, but it does provide a hint or two (no more though...) at the design direction Toyota is taking with the production model.
As we've already said before, the FT-86 will also spawn a Subaru version that will share the same underpinnings and mechanical hardware but according to the two Japanese automakers, will feature its own distinct styling. Hopefully, Subaru's "design team" won't disappoint us this time...

The 2011 Toyota 4Runner carries over styling that morphed from soft-shouldered to square-jawed for 2010. The look emphasizes 4Runner’s throw-back nature, to a time when SUVs had truck-type body-on-frame construction. That was before the civilizing influence of the “crossover” craze. Now, most SUVs – from the compact Honda CR-V to the roomy

Toyota Prius + sips fuel with room for seven

As the second size extension of the Toyota Prius family tree, the 2012 Prius+ adds a healthy dose of roominess to the well-known fuel-sipping hybrid equation, and it's making its world debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. There's seating for seven occupants inside, but the multi-purpose vehicle shares a clear design language with Toyota's standard-bearing Prius. What's more, it manages a low 0.29 drag coefficient thanks to its extended roofline and carefully designed front fascia.

Equally as notable is the battery. This is the first lithium-ion battery pack to be incorporated within a non-plug-in Toyota full hybrid. Toyota has found enough room underneath the center console between the driver and the front passenger to fit the battery, which helps maximize interior space for occupants and their cargo.

As you would expect from a Prius, there are three drive modes: A zero-emission EV mode that relies on electric motor power alone, an ECO mode that maximizes efficiency and fuel economy and finally a somewhat ambitiously named POWER mode that is said to boost overall performance.

Toyota is saying that the Prius+ will be on sale in Europe in the first half of 2012, but it's coming to the U.S. around the same time in the form of the Prius V, which we previously saw at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Check out the complete press release after the break and be sure to check out our high-res image gallery of live photos below.

Toyota Prius price to drop soon

Friday, March 18, 2011

toyota prius
Toyota has already began to make sales predictions for the year 2020. The automaker is confident that Prius will continue its spot as Japan's best-selling model. However it seems that that the exceptional sales volume of Prius may drive Toyota to drop its price.

Japanese car buyers consider the mainstream Prius as a "friendly" model and not a "leading edge" vehicle. This "friendly" image pits the Prius in direct competition with vehicles such as the bargain-priced, subcompact Honda Fit. Kitagawa, who polled 1,972 Japanese car owners, tells this, "As the Prius becomes more of a mass-market car, it may be time to think about lowering the price."

Gas-electric Prius are not sought by tech-savvy Japanese buyers but now it's the mainstream model, Kitigawa argues, that the cutting-edge appeal, which commanded a premium price has faded away.
